Assistant Accountant Job Description
The Assistant Accountant role is to support the Finance Manager and Director of Corporate Services in managing the organisation's finances effectively.
This position is part of a small finance team, working closely together to oversee the organisation's financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process monthly salaries, including related returns, and annual reports on matters such as salaries, superannuation, income tax, and temporary staff employment.
* Ensure the security and safekeeping of assets and resources.
* Supervise bank lodgements, cash handling, petty cash system operations, accounts payable functions, and credit card statement reconciliations.
* Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and cash flow reports.
* Input journals into the computerised accounts system.
* Assist in producing monthly management accounts and reviewing departmental expenditure.
* Support the preparation of statutory accounts for each financial year, adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
* Contribute to the Annual Budget and 3-year Financial Plans.
* Ensure consistent application and documentation of financial policies, processes, procedures, and controls in accordance with the up-to-date Financial Policies and Procedures Manual.
Essential Criteria:
* Recognised CCAB accountancy qualification (CA Ireland, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS) or strong experience with a part-qualification.
* Experience using and developing computerised financial systems and procedures.
* Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
