Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU):
The person appointed to this post will work within the Acute Healthcare setting as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering a coordinated approach to patient care.
The Acute Medical Unit has the capacity for 16-18 patients daily to provide rapid assessment, diagnosis, and commencement of treatment. Patients can attend the department from a variety of sources, including the Emergency Department and GPs.
The post requires an ANP in Acute Medicine with the knowledge, skill, and competence to manage a locally agreed specific caseload of patients who are admitted to the MAU under the Medical Consultant Physicians. The scope of the ANP is determined through exploration of service needs and is not static.
