Job Title: Assistant Sports & Recreation Development Officer
Location: Londonderry Park, Newtownards
About the Role
This is a Permanent, Part-time Job Share contract (18 hours). The post holder will assist the Sports and Recreation Development Officer with the promotion, development, and administration duties associated with sport and recreational activities throughout the Borough of Ards and North Down, in partnership with NCLT/Serco.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities that promote increased participation, promoting the excellence of Sport in the Borough, and assisting individuals, clubs, coaches, officials, and governing bodies to create opportunities for improvement and development along recognised sporting pathways.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist schools and clubs in developing appropriate pathways and achieving excellence within their chosen sport.
* Facilitate the Sports Forum and provide a secretariat and administrative support service, including the operation and supervision of the Sports forum grants scheme.
* Administer and deliver the Capital Grants scheme.
* Oversight of the administration duties associated with the annual online Sports directory.
* Organisation and delivery of sport and recreational programmes targeting young people and underrepresented groups.
* Identify, pursue, and manage external funding for sports and recreation development initiatives on behalf of the Council and other partner organisations.
* Contribute to the development and achievement of the Sports and Recreation Action Plan in partnership with NCLT/Serco.
Person Specification
Applicants must have:
* A Level 3 qualification in Sport/Recreation/Leisure or 3 years relevant experience.
* National Governing Body L1 sport specific or fitness qualification.
* At least 2 years experience in sports development or leisure/recreation industry, coaching experience, and grant management experience.
Suitable applicants will also have good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work on own initiative or in team situations, and sound computer skills.
