Post SummaryApplications are invited for the post of Cuala Press Object Collection Cataloguer within the Research Collections Division, at the Library of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin.
This is a new position within the Library, cataloguing the collection of over 900 original printing blocks from the Cuala Press alongside other press hardware, which form part of the Cuala Press Business Archive.
The post-holder will work with colleagues in conservation and digitisation to open up this collection for broader scholarly research and public engagement.
Working closely with academic colleagues in the overall Cuala Project team, they will be able to enhance catalogue entries for this collection, with art historical details and provenance information, thereby increasing their discoverability and accessibility when their digital surrogates are shared within our Digital Collections repository.
The Cuala Press Object Collection Cataloguer will be expected to engage with academic and print-making experts within Trinity and beyond, library and museum curators with similar holdings, and the wider expert community to develop a best practice approach to this collection.
The Cuala Press Object Collection Cataloguer will report to the Head of Research Collections and work closely with the team of Assistant Librarians in the wider team.
Post status: Specific Purpose ContractThe specific purpose of this employment is to catalogue the collection of 900 original printing blocks from the Cuala Press alongside other press hardware.
You will update catalogue entries with art historical and provenance details for inclusion in the Library's Digital Collections and engage with experts to establish best practices for managing the collection.
The activities for your role are funded by 'Schooner Foundation'.
Employment is not offered on an indefinite duration basis, as it is expected that your expertise and associated activities will be completed within a finite period.
Therefore, termination of this contract will occur upon completion of the work in which you are engaged, or if the funding stream is terminated or withdrawn by the funding agency.
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week The hours of this post are 9.00am - 5.00pm (Monday –Friday).
It currently does not attract flexitime; however, a flexible working day can be arranged by agreement with the line manager.
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Assistant Librarian 2 Salary Scale (€45,242 - €62,304 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
