Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist and an integral part of the department’s team, the successful candidate will have practical experience in Cellular Pathology and the relevant histology knowledge. As a competent experienced Medical Scientist / Biomedical (Histology) with a flexible approach to work, you will be required to rotate through all the functions of a histopathology laboratory including cut–up/dissection, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains.
Participating in the development and maintenance of the ISO 15189 quality management system which is patient centred and ensures quality focused results are provided for patient care, and to assist in the Total Quality Improvement of the department.
Qualifications
Education:
1. Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Science
AND
2. Be registered with CORU as a Medical Scientist
Or
3. Be currently registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
Experience:
Typically 1 year in a similar role, but not mandatory (can be trained in-house post qualification)
Any required licences / certifications or membership:
CORU registered or HCPC registered as Medical Scientist/Biomedical Scientist
Knowledge:
4. Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

5. A diligent, strong work ethic with the ability to work on your own initiative to ensure an outstanding laboratory service.
6. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
