We are seeking a Quality Control Technician for a one-year fixed-term position at our Smartply OSB facility in Belview, near Waterford.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Perform, record, and report on factory production control quality assurance checks for incoming raw materials to finished product.
2. Monitor production processes to ensure they meet quality standards and provide feedback to production teams.
3. Collaborate with production teams, process engineers, and supervisors to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
4. Conduct product testing, input data into the database, and analyze quality results to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
5. Support R&D and innovation projects, planning, testing, and reporting.
6. Assist cross-functional teams across departments in driving performance excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Document noncompliance and ensure recorded compliance issues are resolved and corrected.
8. Support technical administration functions via Q-Pulse as required.
9. Ensure 6S is applied to all work areas and equipment.
10. Support the environmental department with monitoring and testing of water samples across the site.
11. Improve product guidelines/documentation and standard work procedures.
12. Assist with external testing requirements for new products.
13. Maintain testing, measuring, and monitoring equipment according to the Smartply calibration schedule.
14. Conduct Internal IMS audits as part of the Smartply auditing schedule.
15. Promote a culture of quality within Medite Smartply.
16. Deliver quality-related training to process departments as required.
Typical Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:
1. A third-level qualification in a relevant science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
2. A strong track record of team working in quality control is essential.
3. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
4. Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work independently.
5. Demonstrate excellent IT skills.
6. Creativity, flexibility, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
7. Ability and willingness to work at our Medite MDF facility as required, with flexibility to travel between sites.
