Cpl Healthcare in partnership with our client, a non-profit organisation based in Dublin, Ireland, provides services for people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness.
The Extension Service is a Youth Drop-In Centre and is often the first point of contact for homeless young people accessing services. We aim to provide a stable environment and basic essentials like food, showers, and laundry, while engaging young people to create a pathway out of homelessness as quickly as possible.
What you will do:
* Work within the framework of the overall objectives of the organisation.
* Implement overall policies and procedures, including Health and Safety Policy.
* Provide a safe, welcoming environment for young people aged 16-26 who are out of home or at risk, including basic physical care and support.
* Establish trusting relationships with young people living on the streets or in temporary accommodation.
* Develop methods and structures to support young people with their housing, welfare rights, and entitlements.
* Facilitate group work that is both educative and fun.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Provide Advice, Information, and Guidance as prevention or response to being out of home.
* Maintain professional links with other agencies and services for young people.
* Keep up to date casework records, daily logs, and written assessments, inputting information on the organisation's database.
* Assist with practical tasks essential for the project's running.
* Attend meetings and training as required.
* Meet regularly for supervision with your assigned supervisor.
* Work a flexible rota, including evenings and weekends.
* Continuously develop the role with your Line Manager to meet the strategic aims of the organisation.
* Undertake any other responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Project Leader, Manager, or Director of Services.
What you will need:
* A Third Level qualification at degree level in social care (e.g., youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology).
* Direct experience in social care working with disadvantaged young people.
* A strong knowledge of issues affecting young people out-of-home and their impact on development.
* Experience dealing with high-risk and challenging behaviour.
* Experience working in a team with a common goal.
* Computer literate.
* Knowledge of the National Quality Standards Framework for Youth Work 2011. (Desirable)
* An awareness of child protection issues and appropriate responses. (Desirable)
This role is for a one-year fixed-term contract.
