AZOROM has an ongoing contract with ESB and wishes to fill this present position.
The Senior Civil/ Structural Engineer position will be based in the Civil, Environmental & Renewables Engineering Group within Engineering and Major Projects. The role includes the delivery of civil engineering services from feasibility through construction stage of maintenance projects for ESB’s existing stations and also asset development of wind and solar infrastructure. The role includes the inspection of these assets, the audit of their maintenance in line with agreed procedures, preparation of tender packages for civil projects, contracts management and the provision of structural advice through structural calculations/drawings.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Promote and lead the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
* Ensuring that Quality Procedures are implemented on all projects.
* Providing civil, structural engineering technical expertise and advice from project concept through to detailed design and construction.
* Leading, managing and coordinating all relevant civil/ structural engineering and associated disciplines’ activities required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget and programme including the management of civil works contracts.
* Managing engineering works package(s) relating to the delivery of electricity infrastructure projects as required including scoping, specifying, procuring, technical assessment and contract management.
* Building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have:
* Developed a competent level of expertise in the delivery of civil/ structural engineering packages.
* A strong commercial and project management capability.
* Demonstrated a strong capability in assessing, communicating and managing project critical technical risks.
* Strong communication and report writing skills.
* Minimum 7 years relevant experience.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
* Demonstrated a record of successfully managing significant projects or aspects of significant projects of a multi-disciplinary nature.
* The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
* A strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate necessary work with limited oversight.
* A proven ability to work as part of a project team.
* Experience in performing PSDP or PSCS role on projects.
* Working knowledge of FIDIC conditions of Contract.
Qualifications
* Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Level 9 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Chartered status in a recognised professional engineering institution.
Base Location
The position will be based in ESB Offices at One Dublin Airport Central, Dublin Airport Cloghran, Co Dublin, K67XF72 and Dublin City Centre but may require travel nationally in the course of general duties. ESB is committed to offering flexibility in ways of working and they call that Smart Working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible and remote ways of working. The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and may change as we learn about hybrid working. Flexibility to travel in support of business development and international projects will be a feature of the role.
Safety
Contractors must comply with all Health and Safety Regulations and requirements pertaining to the location where they are working and must comply with all directions and instructions from their designated ESB line management.
* Contractors shall wear full PPE, including Arc-resistant where required.
* Steel toe boots compliant with S3 EN ISO 20345.
* Safepass and manual handling training.
* Contractors shall be provided with an unbranded ESB hard hat and ear defenders where required.
* This PPE will be provided by ESB’s suppliers but without any identifiable ESB Logo.
* The PPE to be provided by ESB does not include safety boots, gloves and eye protection. These are standard items that contractors should have at their cost.
* Contractors must have up to date SafePass and manual handling training.
