QUALIFICATIONS
1. Be registered in the General Division of the active Register held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or be entitled to be so registered.
2. Have 5 years post registration experience and a minimum of 2 years must be in a student learning environment.
3. Have a third level qualification at not less than level 7 on the NFQ framework.
4. Have completed Preceptorship in Practice Course or Teaching & Assessing Course.
5. Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
6. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Demonstrate evidence of continuing learning and professional development.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed applications for the office occurs.

GARDA VETTING
Garda Vetting is sought for all employees and prospective employees of Tallaght University Hospital. Your appointment will be subject to satisfactory Garda Vetting and re-vetting in circumstances where the Hospital deems it appropriate.
PARTICULARS OF OFFICE
1. The position is fulltime, permanent and pensionable.
2. Remuneration is in accordance with the salary scale approved by the Department of Health & Children. Current remuneration is: €59,070 by 9 increments to €69,834 [grade 241Y]
3. Pension arrangements and retirement age vary based on the superannuation schemes in operation.
4. The Clinical Placement Co-Ordinator will perform duties as outlined in this job description.
5. Normal working hours are 37.5 worked over 7 days.
6. The successful candidate will be appointed initially for a probationary period of 6 months.
7. Annual leave entitlement is 25 – 28 days pro rata depending on length of service, plus 10 Bank Holidays per annum.
8. Payment of salary during illness will be in accordance with approved arrangements.
9. The employment may be terminated at any time by two months’ notice on either side.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
1. Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Mission, Vision and values of the Hospital.
2. Identify and implement operational processes to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
3. Be responsible to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Nursing Practice Development.
4. Be professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facilitate the undergraduate students to apply nursing theory to nursing practice in the clinical areas.
2. Assist in overseeing the nursing practice of students during their practice placements.
3. Ensure that each student is assessed by the Clinical Nurse Manager or designated Registered Nurse.
4. Assist in creating a clinical learning environment that enhances the student's clinical competence.
5. Assist with orientation programmes for student nurses.
6. Liaise with the Link Tutor assigned to the clinical areas.
7. Ensure that students meet the requirements of the stated dress and behaviour code.
8. Participate in nurse practice development activities.
9. Maintain clinical credibility by ongoing clinical presence.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Keep abreast of current trends and developments in professional nursing matters.
2. Participate in continuous professional development.
3. Engage in personal development planning with the Assistant Director of Nursing.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
1. Ensure effective use of developments in information technology.
2. Ensure that all staff are trained in the use of computer systems.
HEALTH & SAFETY
1. Ensure compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005.
2. Comply with Health and Safety responsibilities as outlined in Hospital policies.
HYGIENE/INFECTION CONTROL
1. Ensure that all staff are advised of their responsibility for Hygiene awareness.
2. Act as a role model and promote infection control and prevention.
QUALITY, SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
Support the delivery of the Quality, Safety and Risk Management Programme.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Maintain confidentiality of Hospital work and patient information.
DATA MANAGEMENT
Ensure compliance with the obligations required by the Data Protection Act 2018.
