Job Title: Assistant Area Manager
Contract: 6 months Fixed Term Contract, Full-time 36 hours per week. Potential for extension.
Location: National Learning Network - Cork
1. JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Area Manager will be responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of high-quality person-centred rehabilitative and vocational training programmes within their designated area. This is achieved through a combination of in-centre programmes, in-company training with local industry/enterprises, and via blended learning methods.
2. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/KNOWLEDGE
Formal Education / Training
* A recognised QQI/HETAC qualification in Supervisory Management would be an advantage.
Work Experience
The candidate should have:
* Experience of working with staff in a supervisory management capacity is advantageous.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
* Experience of working with people with a disability/additional support needs in a training environment.
* Proven ability to develop positive partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of managing projects and developing programmes and processes.
* Ability to work in a changing environment, manage multiple activities, and change initiatives at the same time.
Skills and Knowledge

3. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the overall management, on a continuous basis, of the training & development of all service users in accordance with agreed programmes, including HSE and ETB-funded programmes.
Provide assistance and support in the day-to-day management and administration of human resources including communications, motivation, training, development, health & safety, welfare, etc.
Assist in managing the progress of each service user through the process including: recruitment, assessment, induction, and the IAPIPP process; ensuring that all relevant records and reports are kept confidential and current. Ensuring that any problems encountered by service users within the fields of health, education, and welfare, etc. are attended to in accordance with National Learning Network policy.
Assist in the implementation and management of all training programmes and achievement of training objectives. Advising on the revision and updating of programmes in accordance with Quality Standards and Certification requirements.
Take an active role in the recruitment of service users by liaising with all relevant agencies, individuals, as required.
Liaise regularly with external agencies including relevant Health Service Executive (CHO4), Local and Regional ETB Offices, Department of Social Protection, Intreo, Employers, and all other relevant bodies in order to achieve set targets, maximise service user numbers, and achieve outcomes.
Ensure that appropriate mental health strategies are in place, at all times, to facilitate mental health gains for service users. Coordinate and liaise with external referring agencies, on a regular basis, to ensure an efficient two-way communications system exists.
Ensure efficient management and administration of all resources i.e. staff, equipment, finance, and buildings. Maintain the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and good housekeeping, in accordance with all elements of Safety, Health, Welfare, and Hygiene legislation.
Ensure that all reasonable security precautions are in operation to protect property, goods/cash and that appropriate prices are charged for all goods. Ensure all administrative rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines of National Learning Network are applied accordingly.
The Assistant Manager will carry out his/her work of the management of the centre under the guidance of his/her Area Manager and in accordance with the policies and procedures of National Learning Network howsoever conveyed or intimated.
5. KEY DIMENSIONS AND RELATED JOB RESULTS
* Responsibilities will be assigned by the Area Manager.
* Key relationships that will influence the success of the role: NLN Regional Operations Team/ Finance Team and HR.
* The post holder will be required to work in support of a Multi-Disciplinary Team and deputize for the Area Manager as and when required.
* Full clean driving license required and access to own transport.
6. OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
* The role will be mainly office-based at the National Learning Network, Model Farm Road with travel outside of the office required from time to time.
