Role Description
Chartered physiotherapist required for a busy private physiotherapy Clinic in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. The business has 2 clinics, 2 pilates studios and a rehab gym.
The caseload is very varied, with a broad MSK client base ranging from acute to chronic MSK injuries. We see a wide variety of sports injuries and work with county Kilkenny inter county hurling and football teams as well as many local clubs. We provide in-clinic assessment and treatments and provide pitchside cover.
There is an extensive paediatric client base from babies with delayed development, talipes or torticollis to neurological paediatric cases such as CP and a large number of paediatric MSK cases such as Severs and Osgood-Schlatter disease. We specialize in paediatric biomechanical assessments, exercise prescription, and orthotic provision if required.
We have a broad client base of neurological patients from spinal injuries to strokes and head injuries, as well as seeing patients with MS, Parkinson's disease, etc. We also have many geriatric clients and provide home visits and physiotherapy to residential nursing homes.
In addition, we have an established women's health service and offer MLD, respiratory, vestibular rehabilitation, cervicogenic headaches, and TMJ treatments.
We work with many orthopaedic surgeons throughout the South East and Dublin, conducting full adult biomechanical assessments and treating varied foot and ankle problems.
We provide high-quality pilates classes at all levels, from remedial rehab classes to intermediate or advanced mat-based classes, as well as a wide range of other classes from children's core and agility classes to gym or strengthening classes for the elderly.
The clinic also covers some nursing homes and conducts domiciliary visits where required.
Qualifications and Skills Desired
Skills which would be desirable, but not essential, include:
* Deep dry needling
* Knowledge of biomechanical assessments and orthotic prescription
* Pilates instructor qualification
* Paediatric and neurological experience
* Women's health
* Manual Lymphatic Drainage training
* Good knowledge and practice of exercise prescription
* Strength and conditioning knowledge
* Pitch side experience
* CPR
* Taping
* First aid training
* Knowledge of the psychosocial approach to pain management
* Knowledge of electrotherapy and shockwave
* Sufficient assessment and manual skills
The successful candidate should have experience in some of the above areas.
Training and Rates
We provide extensive in-service training and encourage all staff to continually upskill through in-house, online, and face-to-face CPD. Successful candidates, who may have limited experience in a private practice MSK setting, will also have the option to avail of a 12-week online mentorship programme to help upskill in treating patients privately.
Rates of pay will be based on the candidate's level of qualification and previous experience. Specialist physios will receive more, and the opportunity to specialise 2 years after first employment, and yearly thereafter, will result in wage increases similar to the wage system in the HSE.
