About Your Role
The main purpose of the Electrical Assurance Assessor is to ensure all electrical works delivered through Bord Gais Energy's Services & Solutions comply with Safe Electric requirements, SEAI standards, and industry and safety guidelines. This includes implementation according to our brand guidelines, including electrical maintenance and retrofit installations like solar photovoltaic, EV charge points, heat pumps, boilers, and heating controls.
You will perform regular inspections of electrical maintenance and retrofit works to ensure they meet regulatory, safety, and company standards. Responsibilities include maintaining detailed inspection records, digital checklists, noting issues, deviations, or non-compliance, and reporting findings via the digital platform. You will raise corrective actions as needed and close them only when verified as effective. Risk-based sampling will be applied to final inspections and further investigations.
Following safety protocols, using personal protective equipment, adhering to safety regulations, and escalating safety events are crucial. This role is vital for maintaining product quality, customer satisfaction, and the overall success of the organisation.
Requirements
* Advanced Craft Certificate Level 6 Electrician or equivalent
* Currently a registered electrical installer with Safe Electric, and Electrical Verification & Certification to a City & Guilds 2407 standard
* QQI certification in solar photovoltaic systems (or willing to work towards)
* Hold an assessor qualification (or willing to work towards)
* Certificate in Health and Safety (or willing to work towards)
* Safe Pass (or willing to work towards)
What We're Looking For
A sound in-depth understanding of domestic electrical retrofit design, installation, and maintenance practice, and of relevant Building Regulations, Health & Safety requirements, and industry electrical standards for Republic of Ireland.
An in-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations, including SEAI Domestic Technical Standards & Specifications (DTSS), SEAI Quality Assurance & Disciplinary Procedures (QADP), Quality Assurance & Development Programme for Solar PV Registered Companies & Registered Installers, S.R.54 Code of Practice for the energy efficient retrofit of dwellings, and any other regulatory requirements as appropriate.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with contractors, colleagues, regulators, and other stakeholders, and a proven attention to technical detail, including the ability to produce technical reports for internal and external view.
An ability to oversee and prioritise multiple tasks, with the ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. Ability to work on your own initiative.
Hold a full clean driving licence and available to travel when required.
A degree of physical mobility required for work environments to carry out inspections in high-risk areas, which may include working at height and confined spaces.
Extensive practical experience in either the construction, energy, or retrofit sectors.
Experienced at completing site inspections, preferably on electrical maintenance/installation and energy efficiency retrofit measures, with a track record of ensuring continuous improvements in technical quality and safety.
