Planning Actuary
Located in Ireland, Dublin – Cherrywood.
This is a great opportunity for a qualified actuary with planning and reporting experience.
The Planning Actuary plays a key role in the Financial Performance team at Aviva Life and Pensions Ireland. The successful candidate will report directly to the FP&A Actuary and work closely with Actuarial, Risk & the wider business.
A Bit About the Job:
1. Produce the annual business plan on both a SII and IFRS basis.
2. Regularly refresh planning projections to reflect latest experience and provide management with the latest planning view across key financial and non-financial metrics.
3. Monitor actual results and provide analysis of deviations from planning results.
4. Develop and enhance planning tools to determine actions that optimise SII and IFRS projections.
5. Help grow the business by ensuring our strategy optimises capital usage as well as focuses on realisation of value from our back book and New Business growth.
6. Provide support and technical advice to the FP&A Actuary and Head of Performance and wider business.
7. Participate in capital management activities throughout the year, including producing impact assessments for these activities.
8. Promote a robust risk and controls environment with emphasis on strong documentation and risk management.
Skills and Experience We're Looking For:
1. A Qualified Actuary and member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland or similar international body.
2. Detailed understanding of the life insurance industry, including financial regulation.
3. Technical experience of documentation and production of capital & IFRS metrics.
4. Ability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems.
5. Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical actuarial and accounting information in a non-technical manner.
6. Ability to build relationships and interact effectively at all levels.
7. Market and commercial knowledge. Understand the needs of our end customers. A detailed knowledge of relevant statutory, legal and regulatory frameworks and corporate governance.
8. Good people management, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
9. Experience with modelling software.
