In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical "Oko" gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Welding Supervisor
The Welding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all welding operations within GMining Ventures Oko West Mining Site, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This role includes leading and directing the welding team, ensuring proper training, managing workflow, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise Welding Operations:
1. Oversee daily welding activities to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality specifications.
2. Coordinate welding tasks, set priorities, and allocate resources effectively.
3. Troubleshoot welding issues and resolve technical challenges.
2. Team Leadership & Training:
1. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate welding staff.
2. Provide on-the-job training, support, and guidance to improve team skills and performance.
3. Monitor and assess the performance of welders and other team members.
3. Safety and Compliance:
1. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies regarding welding and related operations.
2. Conduct safety briefings and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
3. Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
4. Quality Control:
1. Ensure that all welding work is performed to required specifications and meets quality standards.
2. Review completed welds for defects, ensuring they meet both technical and aesthetic requirements.
3. Perform inspections of welding procedures and outcomes, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
5. Equipment Maintenance and Inventory:
1. Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in working order.
2. Oversee the procurement of welding materials, tools, and supplies, ensuring an adequate inventory.
3. Manage and maintain the storage and proper use of welding consumables and safety equipment.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
1. Maintain accurate records of welding processes, materials used, and work completed.
2. Prepare and submit reports on production status, quality control, and safety metrics.
3. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to track progress and resolve any issues.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
* Technical Certificate in Welding or Proficient knowledge of welding techniques.
* At least 5-10 years' experience in a similar role.
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
* Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

* Position based at the OKO Project site.
* Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off.
