An excellent opportunity has arisen at Boliden Tara Mines for a Long-Term Scheduler. This is a senior position reporting directly to the Head of Section for Mine Planning & Scheduling.
As team leader for the Scheduling Team, you will have the overall responsibility for all production scheduling from Life of Mine down to shift planning. At Tara Mines we use modern mine planning software (Deswik) for long- and medium-term planning.
The role involves high quality leadership, to promote and uphold the Boliden Tara values of Care, Courage, and Responsibility, whilst also ensuring a safe and positive working environment within the mining operation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. In line with applicable procedures, conduct all duties in a way that promotes Boliden’s values and best practice relating to environmental, health, safety and quality performance.
2. Role model Boliden’s core values at all times and can demonstrate use of core values to drive continuous improvement.
3. Lead and coach team members.
4. Scheduling and optimisation (including financial) of all mining activities for Life of Mine, budget and forecast.
5. Mineral Resource and Reserve calculations and reporting.
6. Preparing data and analysis for productivity analysis and optimisation.
7. Support the development of the Management Operating System.
8. Support unit cost development and analysis.
Skills and Capabilities:
1. Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent.
2. 5+ years of experience in underground mining operations, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in production and mine planning.
3. Project management skills are an asset.
4. Excellent knowledge of mine planning software, with working knowledge of Deswik being an asset.
5. Must have good analytical skills, good organizational skills, a high learning capacity, and problem-solving abilities.
6. Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software.
7. Good communication skills with strong verbal, written and computer skills.
8. Flexible approach to work.
9. Strong interpersonal skills – an ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
10. Demonstrates a willingness to drive new opportunities and continuous improvements.
11. Valid drivers’ licence.
Additional Info:
1. Staff position with normal work week Monday to Friday.
2. There will be some international travel required as part of this role.
