Near You Coordinator NI SHSCT Southern Health & Social Care Trust,remote in Northern Ireland £12,480 pa plus excellent benefits (FTE £24,960) 17.5 hours per week (job share) Permanent - Please note that whilst the role is home based, you are required to be located within Northern Ireland, ideally within the SHSCT area As a Co-ordinator for our RNID Near You, Hearing Aid Support Service (HASS) in the SHSCT, you will focus and lead on developing and delivering the community service across the area.
You will initiate and promote the HASS to reach and engage with people who are deaf/hard of hearing.
The target group for HASS is adults ordinarily resident in the SHSCT who have been issued with an NHS hearing aid(s) but who are struggling with the usage of the hearing aid(s); and possibly have stopped using them altogether.
You will recruit, train and support volunteers to deliver HASS throughout the SHSCT in conjunction with the Sensory Support Teams, Audiology, RNID Service Manager and other Hearing Aid Support Service staff.
While you will be home based, there will be regular travel to venues for drop-in sessions in community settings.
What you will be doing Work in partnership with the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) of the Department of Health to develop HASS within the Trust.
Ensure delivery of the HASS activities through use of volunteers in community, care homes and hospital settings.
Work with the Service Manager to plan activities, meet project objectives and monitor and evaluate the HASS Provide regular progress reports to the Service Manager on targets and service expenditure to enable service review.
Raise awareness of the service by marketing it through all appropriate means including networking with local statutory and voluntary agencies.
Attend outreach events including local information / health fairs and present awareness talks.
Co-ordinate HASS volunteers ensuring they are recruited, trained, supported, and motivated to provide the highest quality service in line with our Investing in Volunteers accreditation.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team across statutory and voluntary sectors.
Carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with all of RNID policies, but especially Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety attending training where required.
You will need: To live in or near the SHSCT area.
Demonstrable experience of recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
Knowledge of best practice in volunteer management.
Sustained project or service delivery experience gained in a relevant setting.
Proven ability to achieve targets and maintain quality standards.
Ability to produce written and numerical information accurately.
Ability to develop working relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues, service users, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
Experience of giving presentations.
Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality compliance.
An understanding of the issues affecting deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus and an open and inclusive attitude that supports the development and knowledge of deaf culture.
Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
Ability to travel across the SHSCT region and to work occasional evenings and weekends.
No essential qualifications are required, but a good standard of written English and attention to detail is a requirement.
