Full-time Mechanical Technician 40 hours p/w. Weekends included.
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Technician to join our growing organisation. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supervising the daily operations of our engineering department, ensuring all works and projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Daily Operations & Maintenance
1. Perform routine operational tasks within the Engineering team.
2. Conduct fault diagnosis for plant and equipment, covering:
+ Mechanical and electrical systems
+ HVAC systems
+ Fabric systems
3. Support preventive and reactive maintenance activities.
2. System Efficiency & Safety
1. Review and optimize building operating systems to:
+ Reduce energy usage.
+ Enhance operational efficiency.
2. Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory standards for:
+ Life safety systems.
+ Building safety systems.
3. Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of:
+ Technical systems.
+ Building Management Systems (BMS).
3. Collaboration & External Support
1. Support third-party suppliers servicing specialized plant and equipment.
2. Consult with external engineers and contractors on:
+ Design and mobilization of plant for new construction.
+ Snagging processes for new or upgraded buildings.
4. Documentation & Compliance
1. Maintain and regularly update site documentation in line with best practices.
2. Review and implement new regulations applicable to the campus.
3. Ensure the asset list is current, and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) routines align with manufacturer and legislative requirements.
4. Record and close out work orders using systems like FlexMaint.
5. Equipment & Asset Management
1. Ensure business-critical equipment is available and operational.
2. Conduct snagging to ensure new installations or upgrades are:
+ Fully functional.
+ Compliant with regulations.
6. Team Support & Training
1. Support the Engineering Supervisor in managing PPMs and reactive tasks.
2. Maintain and update training records and other necessary data.
3. Participate in training and development programs as required.
4. Represent the department and campus professionally.
7. Flexibility & Additional Duties
1. Work irregular hours as needed, with flexibility for a 5-day schedule over seven days.
2. Undertake additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Relevant qualification in building or building services.
2. Trade certifications or equivalent qualifications.
Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Strong technical background.
2. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
3. Proven experience in property or facilities management.
4. Practical understanding and application of BMS (Building Management Systems) and SCADA systems.
Desirable Criteria
1. Proficiency in ICT for effective role execution.
2. Previous experience in a healthcare or health service environment.
