Electrical Project Manager, Leixlip.
In this role you will be responsible for the management of the design process for electrical with efficient and effective handover to the construction delivery teams and assist as required during the construction stage.
You will build and lead electrical project teams as the market transitions into a large growth phase, promoting the objectives set out within the Glanua Business Strategy. In this role, you will actively promote and advocate the culture and ethos of Glanua and leverage its unique solutions based on design focus to deliver innovative, sustainable, and efficient design to the market.
You will work in a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience. In this role, you will provide leadership in the implementation of the electrical design and construction.
Please note that this role will be based in our Leixlip office; however, there will be the need to visit other Glanua work locations as this role covers our Leinster Region.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Project Manager are outlined as follows:
1. Lead an electrical engineering team in all aspects of the Electrical Contract Scope of Works, including design, pre-construction, construction, inspection, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
2. Monitor and track performance of design/construction team, report to the Group Electrical Manager on key metrics of performance and adjust and make changes as necessary to ensure effective outputs.
3. Ensure health, safety, environmental & sustainability standards, policies, and procedures are developed into the proposed designs taking into consideration construction impacts.
4. Ensure health, safety, environmental & sustainability standards, policies, and procedures are maintained throughout the construction phase whether it be direct or subcontract staff.
5. Manage and drive a large team to meet with all project requirements and deadlines.
6. Ensure a positive experience for the client and their representatives instilling an ethos of collaboration and cooperation.
7. Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in process, mechanical, control & automation, civil and structural to ensure an optimum design solution is reached.
8. Facilitate and promote the working model of a shared Glanua Group resource pool of design engineers working at remote locations across the UK, Ireland, and other potential locations. Monitor and track performance, promote and drive accountability.
9. Manage 3rd party design consultants as required, build supply chain of sub-consultants and monitor performance and commercial activity to extract maximum performance, opportunity, and efficiency.
10. Develop design strategies and prepare business cases if required for changes in Glanua approach to electrical design and delivery.
11. With team assist in the preparation and pricing of tender submissions for electrical works.
12. Ensure commercial awareness is embedded within the design teams and commercial reviews against budget are completed at critical stages of the design.
13. Promote and advocate key themes from Glanua Business Strategy including a move to off-site manufacturing, improved digitalized ways of working and drive towards sustainability.
14. Ensure constructability reviews and methodologies are completed at early stages of design, and as the design develops, liaise closely with other engineering disciplines and site delivery teams.
15. Ensure a robust handover to site delivery teams including the close-out of any design comments or construction-related queries.
16. Assist in the procurement process of electrical packages and the technical review of tender returns to ensure requirements align to the required standards and demonstrate value for money.
17. Encourage the use of innovative technology and ways of working within the team.
18. Harness opportunities and mitigate risk through effective design and risk mitigation measures during the lifecycle of the design process.
19. Provide an active involvement in resource management and recruitment within your team as a hiring manager.
20. Conduct best practice people management in the leadership of the team including regular 1-2-1’s with team members, performance reviews, onboarding, and appraisals.
21. Ensure design team are aware of local asset standards, electrical standards, WIMES, etc., and embed requirements of same into respective designs.
22. Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
23. Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
The main knowledge, skills, and experience required/desirable of the Electrical Project Manager are outlined as follows:
1. Minimum of 6 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
2. Extensive working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the role of PSDP/PSCS.
3. Experience in electrical engineering works including but not limited to the following: LV control and power distribution systems.
4. Ability to interrogate all electrical design drawings including panel schematics.
5. Ability to develop sub-contractor electrical design/work packages.
6. Knowledge and experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, network architecture and development, communications protocols, etc. is desirable.
7. Good working knowledge of Trimble Design Products (Amtech) and Autodesk Products desirable.
8. Knowledge of various motor-starter designs including VSD’s, intelligent starters, etc.
9. Relevant Electrical/Electronics Engineering Qualification.
10. Ability to work under pressure to deliver project objectives.
11. Ability to work collaboratively with the client and their representatives in leading and developing design solutions.
12. Good working knowledge of programme management software such as Microsoft Project. Ability to prepare baseline programmes and programme updates.
13. Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
14. Excellent working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
15. Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.
16. Full driving license.
