Role Summary:
The Overnight Refuge Support Worker is responsible for providing comprehensive support and assistance to Clients during the night.
This Role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals seeking refuge, offering emotional support & care, and addressing any immediate needs that arise overnight.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Monitor the refuge premises to ensure a safe and secure environment.
* Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to clients.
* Assist with intake and orientation of new clients during night hours.
* Respond to emergencies and liaise with emergency services if necessary.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation of nightly activities and incidents.
* Support clients with practical needs, such as food, bedding, and personal care items.
* Collaborate with daytime staff to ensure continuity of care and support.
About You:
* Minimum Level 7 in applied social studies, e.g., social care or social studies, and relevant experience working in the Social Sector for more than three years.
* At least two years' experience of working with victims of domestic abuse & homelessness, other residential/support housing environments, advice or other relevant voluntary or statutory agencies.
* Experience of working on a one-to-one basis with clients.
* The ability to drive with a full clean driver's licence.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and handle stressful situations effectively.
* Understanding of issues related to domestic violence, homelessness, and trauma.
* Availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
* Working Hours: Overnight shifts, typically from 20:15 to 08:15.
Position Details:
This position is 84 hours per fortnight, including training and staff team meetings. Shifts will be allocated across seven days, including evenings and weekends in accordance with the needs of the service.
