About Our Privacy, Data & AI Governance Team
The Cloud Software Group privacy, data & AI governance team is building risk-minimizing, sales-enabling, profit-supporting, and value-creating privacy, data & AI governance programs. We take a risk-based and data-driven approach to prioritizing our program initiatives and projects. Our team covers:
1. Global privacy & data protection, data governance, and AI governance compliance
2. Privacy & data protection contracts (DPAs, SCCs, DTAs, BAAs, etc.)
3. Security incident & data breach response
4. Product privacy by design
5. Privacy & AI governance reviews for products, vendors, and internal business operations
Job Description
This position provides senior specialist expert advice on all aspects of privacy, data & AI governance. The role will help lead European compliance priorities, provide key contract negotiation support, and help execute program priorities.
The Senior Privacy Counsel is a key subject matter expert on European data protection and digital strategy laws, including but not limited to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its implementing regulations, the AI Act, the Data Act, the Digital Services Act (DSA), and data protection, AI governance, and digital strategy rules. They will also work closely with key stakeholders across the Legal Commercial, Compliance, Procurement, Security, Engineering, Product, IT, HR, Sales, and Marketing.
This position will help ensure that we minimize company data protection, AI governance, and digital strategy.
The position will also help demonstrate to customers that Cloud Software Group has its data protection, AI governance, and digital strategy house in order and can be trusted as a cloud service provider.
The successful candidate is comfortable balancing compliance and risk-minimization with value-creation goals in their day-to-day work; passionate about data protection, AI governance, and digital strategy work; a ruthless risk-based prioritizer; and a pragmatic, tech-savvy, and a solutions-oriented professional.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position's key duties and responsibilities include:
1. Developing internal and external data protection, AI governance, and digital strategy policies, standards, guidance and training
2. Conducting protection, AI governance, and digital strategy reviews (e.g., DPIAs, LIAs, TIA, AI impact assessments)
3. Maintaining privacy & data protection contract templates and playbooks; handling & negotiations escalations; and supporting sales & procurement teams
4. Creating customer-facing compliance documentation related to Cloud Software Group products and services to help customers conduct their own privacy review of our products and services
5. Supporting audits, assessments and certifications
6. Providing legal oversight of the vendor risk management program; managing and controlling the review process, and leading a team of privacy reviewers
7. Facilitating due diligence and transitions in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, as needed
8. Advising Sales & Marketing teams on privacy & data protection requirements relevant to sales and marketing activities, covering email marketing, telephone marketing, events marketing, online marketing, etc.
9. Collaborating with other members of the Legal, Security, Engineering, Product, Marketing, HR, Sales, and other cross-functional teams
10. Supporting the CPO in privacy program management and operations
11. Providing expert support in internal investigation, security incidents, and data breaches
12. Monitoring privacy & data protection laws and regulatory trends, developments, and industry best practices
13. Driving awareness and education of Cloud Software Group business and legal operations on global privacy law implications and obligations
14. Identifying awareness and training needs, providing expert input on global training program, and delivering privacy training, as needed
Required Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have:
1. 5+ years of full-time experience on privacy, data protection, AI governance, and/or digital strategy law and program development
2. 2+ years of experience in the tech industry, with at least 1+ year in the B2B tech industry
3. 2+ years direct experience in relevant contract (e.g., DPA, SCC, BAA, DORA) negotiations
4. 2+ years conducting DPIA/TIA/LIA analyses and drafting corresponding documentation
5. Qualified EU attorney, licensed to practice in Ireland

Education
1. An advanced (master's or doctorate) law degree
2. Privacy/data protection, AI governance, and digital strategy courses and/or certifications
