Position Overview
The Software Engineering Director will be responsible for overseeing the operations and strategic direction of the SaaS center of expertise. This role requires a strong leader with a broad understanding of software engineering practices, excellent management skills, and the ability to drive collaboration across multiple technical domains. Additionally, the Director will manage and oversee projects within the service center and play a critical role in the M&A due diligence process, assessing the technical capabilities of potential acquisitions and ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership and Management: Oversee the daily operations of the center of expertise, ensuring effective support for the SaaS Platforms in cloud services, QA, IT, Security, and software architecture.
* Strategic Direction: Develop and execute the strategic plan for the center of expertise, aligning its goals with the overall objectives of the organization.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster collaboration between different service areas to ensure a unified approach to supporting the SaaS businesses.
* Technical Interviews: Process information from technical interviews related to software development and architectural design during M&A due diligence.
* Findings and Assessment: Summarize and convert findings by external parties into concrete actionable items and assess their criticality.
* Business Case Understanding: Understand the business case in relation to an acquisition and formulate a gap list on the current state of the target.
* Advisory Role: Serve as the primary advisor to the SaaS Platforms leaders on the services provided by the center.
* Performance Management: Set performance metrics for the team, regularly reviewing progress to optimize efficiency.
* Resource Allocation: Manage resource allocation within the service center, ensuring expertise is available as needed.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the service center.
Qualifications
* Experience: 12+ years in software engineering, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
* Expertise: Broad understanding of SDLC, cloud services, quality assurance, and software architecture.
* M&A Due Diligence: Proven experience in conducting technical due diligence during M&A processes.
* Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams.
* Programming Language: Strong knowledge of various programming languages and principles.
* Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
* Project Management Skills: Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
* Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is a plus.
