The People and Capability Office plays a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of EirGrid's evolution, facilitating cultural change, and building and enabling a high-performance environment. From talent development to employee engagement, the People and Capability Office leads the charge in creating a motivated workforce and delivering best-practice HR policies and solutions.Job PurposeThe Head of Workplace, Health & Safety will play a strategic role in enabling EirGrid to effectively and efficiently manage organisational health & safety, building and facilities assets, aligned to EirGrid’s strategy. The role holder will be responsible for management of the workplace facilities and Health and Safety centres of expertise for the EirGrid Group with the objective of ensuring a modern, safe and positive employee experience for all our employees on-site at our offices and working remotely.The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that the work environment is safe, risks are minimised and that EirGrid is compliant with all relevant health & safety regulations. The role holder will be required to have a combination of professional and industry knowledge, management skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organisation.A significant proportion of the services will be delivered through third party service providers based either on or off site. The role holder will be required to ensure that the best services are delivered through these providers in a cost effective manner.Key Responsibilities:Set out the workplace, health & safety strategies and policies for EirGrid in accordance with legislative requirements and best practices.Develop roadmaps and plans to operationalise the strategies, meeting the expectations of the business in a cost effective manner.Manage risk assessment processes to identify potential hazards, manage strategies to control risks and prevent accidents.Manage the development and delivery of relevant health & safety training for all staff members and relevant contractors.Manage promotion of a culture of health & safety awareness throughout the organisation.Work with the Chief People & Capability Officer to manage health & safety incident investigations, including root cause analysis, response and mitigation.Manage health & safety records and provide reporting/analysis for the EirGrid Board, Executive Team and relevant external stakeholders.Responsible for management of regulatory compliance, including keeping up to date with all new legislation, maintaining a working knowledge of all Health & Safety legislation and any developments that affect EirGrid or the industry.Engage with the EirGrid Group management and staff to ensure health and safety is never compromised and maintain accreditation to the required standards.Manage the workplace facilities for the Group, planning forward to ensure that future requirements are met.Manage the relationships with external providers for facilities, security and catering to ensure top class service at effective cost levels.Oversee delivery of facilities management projects.Contribute to development of EirGrid People Strategy.Set and agree appropriate service level standards, implemented through Service Level Agreements to ensure optimum service delivery.Critical knowledge, skills and experience:Experienced professional with 8 years’ experience in managing health & safety in a similar organisation.An understanding of health & safety legislation.Experience in facilities management and vendor management.Experience of leading high performing teams in changing circumstances.Excellent communication and influencing skills.Strong process and operational excellence skills, with prior experience of managing in a service delivery/operations delivery environment.Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity.Ability to develop networks and relationships within the EirGrid Group and within the industry.
