Responsibilities
Operating Standards
1. Overseeing busy check ins and check outs and compiling daily reports.
2. Work cohesively with Reception staff and other departments and co-workers as part of a team, having a clear understanding of all departments.
3. Ability to remain calm and courteous with demanding/difficult guests and/or situations.
4. Ability to anticipate the needs of our guests; display an open, friendly, courteous and approachable demeanour to guests; maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward guest service.
5. Maintain a professional and high quality service oriented environment at all times.
6. Responsibility for managing operating expenses and purchasing for the department.
Department Supervision
1. Ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training.
2. Direct performance of your employees and follow up with corrections where needed. Communicate goals; motivate and guide team members towards goal accomplishment.
3. Coordinate daily activities with the management team on a daily basis.
4. Hold regular department meetings keeping staff informed of all activities in the hotel, reinforcing standards and promoting a strong team atmosphere and culture.
5. Ensure all policies/procedures and SOP’s are in place and adhered to.
Customer Care
1. Willingness to go the extra mile, to provide the extra attention in order to satisfy guests’ individual needs and wants; anticipate customer needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask.
2. Supervise and upsell at the Front desk and work with the management team to try to maximise revenue for the hotel.
3. Inform all Reception staff of daily activities, group and VIP arrivals as well as special requests and repeat guests. Ensure any special requests are carried out accordingly, greet guests upon arrival and ensure escorts to accommodation if appropriate.
Candidate Requirements:
1. 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a similar sized property.
2. Excellent written and spoken English.
3. Excellent organisation and communication skills.
4. Resilient and capable of working under pressure and remain calm when dealing with multiple requests and individuals at once.
5. Excellent leadership skills.
6. Working knowledge of Front Office Systems necessary, of HotSoft a distinct Advantage.
7. Must be well groomed and take pride in their appearance.
8. Must be flexible/available to work a variety of shifts included late night, early morning and weekend shifts and committed to succeed in a fast-paced diverse workplace.
