Role SummaryReporting to the Radiology Services and Business Manager (RSBM), the Emergency Department Imaging Clinical Specialist Radiographer will perform a pivotal role in service planning, managing activity, and allocated resources within the Emergency Department.
The post holder will lead and supervise radiographic and other staff in the Emergency Department, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of quality Emergency Imaging services.
The role encompasses quality assurance, staff development, and effective communication while providing professional and clinical leadership.
The position requires the ability to lead, guide, and supervise staff in an Emergency environment, and the willingness to undertake additional duties as assigned.
The Emergency Department Imaging Clinical Specialist is expected to assist the RSBM in delivering an efficient and effective radiography service both within the Emergency Department and the radiology department, with proficiency in CT and General Xray.
A willingness to provide 24/7 on-call service is essential.
ResponsibilitiesPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Operations: Lead, guide, and supervise radiographic staff in the assigned area to manage service delivery.Provide management support and leadership in the Emergency Department and radiology department.Ensure good communication between all stakeholders in the Emergency Department and Radiology.Deliver efficient and caring service to patients, providing empathy and emotional support.Supervise and organise work in a rapidly changing environment.Lead the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines.Participate in planning and development of the service with other staff.Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.Radiation Safety: Ensure adherence to appropriate referral screening procedures.Promote the ALARA principle.Maintain and update knowledge of legislation and guidelines regarding medical ionising radiation protection.Take a lead role in addressing radiation-related events.Staff Management: Lead by example, fostering dedication within the team.Encourage open communication and healthy working relationships.Motivate team members by setting clear goals and objectives.Education and Training: Identify training needs of new staff in equipment and procedures.Responsible for training of all Radiographers and other staff as appropriate.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical, and professional developments.Strategic Management: Support the RSBM in the JCI accreditation process.Assist with the development and implementation of Risk Management and Health and Safety strategies.QualificationsMandatory: Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.Be registered or eligible for registration on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Register.Have not less than 6 years full time post qualification clinical experience.Possess a recognised postgraduate course relevant to the specialism.Provide proof of Statutory Registration before a contract of employment can be issued.Annual Registration: Maintain annual registration on the relevant division of the Radiographers Register.Supplementary Information: The Hospital: Unit: Enquiries ONLY to: Barry Hallinan, Radiology Service Manager I, Email: ******
