As a Senior Database Administrator in our Global Shares Database Management team, you will have extensive experience managing SQL Server, Azure, and PostgreSQL databases. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our databases. This role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to implement best practices, troubleshoot complex database issues, and mentor junior DBAs.
Job responsibilities
1. Manage and maintain SQL Server, Azure SQL, and PostgreSQL databases.
2. Perform database tuning, optimization, and maintenance to ensure high performance, as well as implement and oversee database backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
3. Design and develop database architectures and models and write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
4. Implement database security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
6. Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues, as well as performing root cause analysis of database-related issues and implement corrective actions.
7. Utilize monitoring tools to maintain database health and performance.
8. Manage databases hosted on Azure, including Azure SQL Database and other cloud-based database services.
9. Develop and implement strategies for database migration to and from the cloud and ensure efficient utilization of cloud resources and manage associated costs.
10. Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to deliver robust database solutions and mentor and provide technical guidance to junior DBAs and other team members.
11. Contribute to the development of database policies, standards, and procedures.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
12. Formal training or certification on system design concepts and proficient advanced experience with SQL Server, Azure and PostgreSQL.
13. Experience in database design, implementation, and maintenance.
14. Background in performance tuning and optimization of large-scale databases.
15. Proficiency in SQL Server.
16. Extensive experience with Azure SQL Database and other Azure cloud services.
17. Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and its various extensions and tools.
18. Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools (., SQL Profiler, Azure Monitor, pgAdmin).
19. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with ETL processes.
20. Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and strong communication and collaboration skills.
21. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
22. Attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity and security.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
23. Certifications in SQL Server, Azure, or PostgreSQL.
24. Experience with NoSQL databases and other modern data technologies.
25. Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
26. Experience with DevOps practices and tools (., CI/CD pipelines).
