The Supply Chain, Transportation Planning & Operational Excellence (EU STEP) team is responsible for the end-to-end flow of goods from our vendors and sellers to Amazon customers across Europe. This team ensures speedy and reliable customer delivery at the lowest possible cost.
Job Description
As a Software Development Engineer, you will enable the creation of products that drive automation, scalability, and optimization of transportation processes, reducing costs and improving execution speed for customers. You will identify opportunities to improve network performance, simplify processes, and leverage existing resources.
This role involves designing and implementing state-of-the-art solutions in transportation planning and network design, ensuring end-to-end transportation strategies are streamlined and optimized within the Amazon EU global network.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop tools to automate standardized processes and optimize trade-offs across the full decision space.
* Develop relationships with internal and external partner teams to enrich our collection of data.
* Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of large-scale data solutions impacting mid- and long-term strategic planning.
* Identify and tackle complex problems, delivering artifacts setting standards in software development.
* Improve existing methodologies by developing new data sources or architecture enhancements.
* Conduct presentations to share insights and recommendations with varying levels of technical sophistication.
* Collaborate with multiple teams and have cross-team impact.
* Research and benchmark technology against industry competitors.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Internship or few years experience in software development.
* Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, NodeJS).
* Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle.
* Experience with SQL.
* Basic communication skills with users, technical teams, and management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's/ Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, IT, or equivalent.
* Experience with AWS technologies.
* Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR).
* Experience operating large data warehouses.
* Data mining techniques, predictive analytics, statistical modeling knowledge.
* MPP databases experience (Amazon Redshift).
* Data product building experience, integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources.
* Data modeling, warehousing, ETL pipeline building experience.
