Based in Dunboyne, Meath Metal Products is a family-run sheet metal manufacturing company. In business for over 40 years, we employ 30 people, with a focus on manufacturing precision engineering components and pressings.
We are looking for skilled Welders to join our company. As a Welder, you will play a crucial role in fabricating and assembling metal components through welding techniques. Your expertise in welding and attention to detail will contribute to the production of high-quality sheet metal products.
Responsibilities:
1. Welding Operations: Perform welding tasks using the MIG welding technique.
2. Drawing Interpretation: Read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions to ensure precise weld placement and adherence to specifications.
3. Equipment Setup: Set up welding equipment, such as welding machines, torches, and gas cylinders, and ensure their proper functioning for efficient and safe operation.
4. Material Preparation: Clean, prepare, and position metal surfaces and components for welding, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
5. Weld Quality Assurance: Inspect welded joints and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards, identifying any defects or imperfections and making necessary adjustments or repairs.
6. Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe handling of materials and tools.
7. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, including cleaning, troubleshooting, and reporting any malfunctions or issues to supervisors.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including welding parameters, material usage, and production quantities.
9. Collaboration: Coordinate and communicate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and quality control personnel to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
Skills/Experience Required:
1. Previous experience as a Welder in a sheet metal manufacturing or similar environment.
2. Proficiency in MIG welding.
3. Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings desirable but not required.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
5. Knowledge of welding equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
6. Understanding of safety practices and procedures related to welding.
7. Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform welding tasks.
8. Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
9. Basic computer skills for recording and documenting work.
10. Good command of English, both spoken and written.
Other Information:
1. Normal working week is 39 hours: Monday – Thursday 8:00 – 16:30, Friday 8:00 – 15:30.
2. This is a manufacturing position. You will be required to wear safety boots (steel toe capped) and other relevant PPE equipment.
