Job Title: Addiction Counsellor
We are seeking an experienced Addiction Counsellor to work with our client, a Prison Counselling Service, in partnership with Cpl Healthcare.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will deliver counselling services for individuals with drug and/or alcohol problems in a prison setting. This is a full and/or part-time position based in Cloverhill prison.
Main Responsibilities:
* Deliver specific substance use interventions using models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Relapse Prevention, and crisis interventions to promote self-efficacy and motivation to change.
* Develop comprehensive care plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, ensuring regular review of individual treatment plans and goals identified.
* Maintain accurate records and adhere to professional standards.
* Participate in multidisciplinary prison-based training as required.
* Collaborate with relevant research projects approved by the Irish Prison Service.
* Attend meetings with the IPS and local prison management to review the service.
Requirements:
* Two years of experience in a paid capacity in an addiction service or similar setting.
* Accreditation from ACI, IACP, or equivalent body.
* A relevant third-level qualification in addiction studies or social care.
* An excellent understanding of issues related to problem drug use, criminal offending, homelessness, dual-diagnosis, and progression pathways towards community-based rehab, housing, and training services.
* The ability to develop constructive relationships with clients and teams.
* The capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
* The ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external agencies.
* Experience in developing Care Plans.
