The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to our Innovation Manager, this new senior opportunity consists of 70% packaging and sustainability responsibilities, with the remaining 30% focused on Food Innovation and hands-on NPD projects. Some of your responsibilities for this role will be (but not limited to):
* Leading packaging-related projects, collaborating with Operations teams, Packaging Suppliers, cross-functional teams, and external consultants.
* Developing and implementing packaging solutions aligned with Edlyn’s sustainability strategy and goals, improving product performance and functionality.
* Managing the APCO program and ensure all reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with the latest industry requirements.
* Collaborating with packaging suppliers, building strong relationships to leverage their expertise and drive innovation.
* Ensuring manufacturing feasibility of packaging solutions, balancing cost, functionality, and sustainability.
* Conducting product and packaging cost analysis and reporting to meet customer briefs, working closely with the procurement team for sourcing packaging.
* Leading packaging-related factory trials, providing detailed reports and actionable insights.
* Assisting in sustainability-related projects (not limited to packaging) to support the company’s efforts in meeting sustainability targets.
* Assisting in the artwork process for primary and secondary packaging, ensuring that design meets both regulatory, customer, and machinery requirements.
* Hands-on NPD from brief to commercialisation, including raw material sourcing, product development, packaging solutions, and coordinating factory trials. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches and alignment with project goals throughout the process.
Who we are looking for:
Ideally, to be considered for this role, you will already be in an in-house Product and Packaging role within the Foodservice, Beverage or FMCG manufacturing industries, or be looking to take that next step in your career based on a solid track record in this field to date. To therefore be considered for this opportunity, we are seeking to hear from applicants who possess:
* Tertiary qualifications in Food Science and Technology, Product Design Engineering, Packaging Innovation, or a related field.
* At least 3+ years of experience in food, packaging and sustainability roles within the food or FMCG industry.
* Knowledge of food packaging materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., rigid plastics, flexible films, cardboard boxes) is ideal (but not essential).
* Experience in packaging sustainability practices and regulatory compliance (especially APCO).
* Ability to manage end-to-end packaging projects, from material selection to manufacturing trials.
* Comfortable working autonomously and collaborating with cross-functional teams (Sales & Marketing, Procurement, Quality, and Ops).
* Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
* Creative and passionate about finding innovative packaging, product, and sustainability solutions, with a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong Excel skills for data analysis, costing, and visualisation.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under tight timelines, prioritising tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
