Amazon is looking for an energetic and detail-oriented individual to join the Data Center Engineering Operations Team in the Dublin Area. This team works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services.
Job Description
The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates at peak efficiency.
* Maintain 100% availability of the data center's MEP;
* Provide first-class customer service to teams and groups within the data centers;
Key Responsibilities
The CE will oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in data centers, operate independently with limited direct management, assist in the design and build-out of new facilities, and act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region.
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures;
* Troubleshoot and report facility and data server-level events within internal SLA;
* Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams;
* Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in recruiting efforts for the same;
* Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff;
* Utilize internal Change Management Systems to manage building workflows;
* MV/LV Isolation to facilitate MV maintenance;
* Provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis;
* Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience;

* Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment;
* Ability to demonstrate ability to take ownership of technical issues brought to them by their customer base;

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Strong working knowledge and experience of the purpose and infrastructure of a Data Center.
Experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities or Mission Critical Plants/Production facilities.
Project Management experience.
