Division Description:
The Investment Risk Team is primarily responsible for the oversight and governance of investment risks within both pooled funds and segregated mandates. In addition, it ensures the business has adequate controls in place to manage the investment risks arising exposures held on behalf of our clients.
The team formulates and has oversight of our derivatives policies and carries out the model validation process. The team also provides advice regarding settlement and counterparty risk as well as acting as a go-between for Group Risk and Insight.
Position Description:
The role seeks to assist the Investment Risk Manager in monitoring, advising, and reporting to Senior Management (and appropriate boards and committees) that investment risks are being effectively managed & identified and that the business is compliant with relevant regulation.
In addition to helping ensure Insight Europe meets its regulatory expectations around risk management, the role is important in identifying, analysing, and quantifying key investment risk exposures and communicating appropriately to the relevant people/committees.
Role Responsibilities
• Providing independent 2nd line risk oversight of the investment strategies deployed by the Investment Manager.
• Working with and development of risk systems to ensure that data is accurate and reliable as Insight continues its evolution.
• Portfolio Risk Reporting and restriction monitoring, including:
• UCITS and AIFMD Exposure Reporting
• Production of other Portfolio Risk Reporting & ad-hoc analysis
• VaR Back-testing, analysis with subsequent data cleaning and model enhancement where necessary.
• Liquidity monitoring and investigation of changes and exceptions.
• Monitor portfolio risk exposures and escalation when risk levels may be inappropriate.
• Attendance at Insight Europe’s risk and investment oversight group.
• Providing support and assistance to the global investment risk function.
• Supporting the development of enhancements to risk reporting.
• Developing and maintaining risk policies, procedures & processes
• Assisting in maintenance and co-ordinating of updates to Risk Management Process
• Produce certain regular and ad-hoc reporting including assisting in investment risk thematic reviews of different investment strategies.
• Respond/investigate to enquiries/queries from clients, regulators, and the wider organisation regarding above.
• Monitoring of sustainability risk for all Insight Europe funds and enhancement of processes where appropriate.
• Assist in fund event planning and scenario analysis.
Experienced Required
Technical Skills / Specialist knowledge
• Relevant experience within a market/investment risk role within an asset management or bank/finance business.
• Good mathematical knowledge, obtained through undergraduate degree in a numerate subject.
• Extremely proficient working with Microsoft Office products
• Interest in and a good understanding of financial markets, financial products and financial instruments.
• Practical experience of applying concepts to real instruments/portfolios.
• Excellent problem solving and analytic skills required.
• Knowledge of the regulatory risk measures as detailed within UCITS and/or AIFMD guidance and regulations would be preferable.
• Willingness to embrace technology & general system savviness.
Written Communication
• Needs to be able to explain complex concepts and data to multi-disciplinary audiences.
• Comfortable proactively communicating and building relationships with colleagues in different locations.
