Non-Exempt - Supervisory
Position Overview:
To develop, implement and coordinate sports and wellness programs. Such programming will include curriculum related to generalized sports, sports leagues, fitness and a healthy lifestyle for persons of all ages to enjoy while enhancing the quality of life for Pine Township residents and surrounding communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Related To Core Competencies & Accountability
(not limited to):
Programming - Generalized Sports
* Develops, implements and oversees a variety of sports and program offerings for all ages and abilities.
* Introduces new and non-traditional sports into the programming plan, maximizing the utilization of facilities and programs.
Programming - Sports Leagues
* Develops, implements and oversees the growth of in-house sport leagues for Pine residents and surrounding communities.
* Recruits participants, provides safety and encourages sportsmanship among players, volunteers, spectators, and officials.
Programming - Group Fitness
* Works with the community center manager and scheduling assistant to ensure top quality group fitness programs within the Pine Community Center.
* Recruits new members, staff instructors, and buy-in to the programming.
Programming - Healthy Lifestyle
* Develops, implements and oversees enrichment initiatives related to healthy lifestyles and seminars with third-party contractors.
* Initiates and sustains partnerships with third-party vendors and regional alliances to expand programming.
* Ensures a thorough understanding of contractual language and implications - avoiding legal and costly consequences for the Township.
* Identifies gaps and underperforming programs on a regular basis and reviews with leadership with suggestive action plan.
* Continuously assesses programs for expansion opportunities; providing necessary reporting to leadership that includes, but not limited to fee schedules, staffing/volunteer needs, supplies and cost recovery strategies.
Programming - Summer Sports Camp
* An ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens for children.
* Leads the township's comprehensive summer camp program by incorporating elements of recreational programming to also include, but not limited to:
o Development: Age-Appropriate Program Details By Class, By Day
o Fees
o Hours - Staff
o Camp Culture
o Post Camp Review With Action Plan For Next Season
* Participates with annual recruitment planning with Community Center leadership and Human Resources Department.
* Screens applicants, interviews, and selects incumbent(s) for summer camp roles.
* Seeks to provide professional and courteous service to the children and their families. Acts as a role model for other team members.
* Develops and maintains an instructional environment conducive to effective student learning, culture and/or activities.
* Ensures a classroom management style utilizing a positive behavior support model.
* Problem solves to identify innovative, practical, and effective differentiation strategies to meet camper learning and/or activity needs.
* Conducts camper assessments to identify those who may need intervention and collaborates, as needed, with appropriate leadership and parents as appropriate.
* Ensures the health and safety of campers; maintains consistent and constant supervision.
Financial & Metrics
* Provides regular program analysis to include trends, financial sustainability, and potential capital.
* Collaborates with leadership of the Community Center and Finance Department to develop a comprehensive budget plan for all programs during the fiscal year planning phase.
* Ensures all programs have a cost analysis, review and participant evaluation upon completion.
* Supply needs and usage for all programs is planned in accordance to budget; controlled with reporting and analysis to leadership on a monthly basis.
Supervisory Leadership
* First line resource for general staffing questions, issues and timecard review.
* Assists and collaborates with leadership for employee onboarding, performance reviews, disciplinary action, etc.
* Develops and publishes staffing schedules to include regular monitoring.
* Assists with staff and program schedules, ensuring substitutes, changes and reassignments are handled properly and timely.
* Organizes daily schedule of events such as field trips, authorizations, communications, ensures staff coverage.
* Exhibits patience, understanding, effective leadership and mentoring skills with teenage and college aged employees or program participants.
* Able to provide professional critique or discussion with guests, of all ages, regarding program rules and regulations.
* Provides professional critique to staff, vendors and visitors.
* Communicates regularly with leadership regarding concerning events or situations, safety concerns, equipment failure, supply shortage incidents, observation or witness to inappropriate behavior, unethical activity or other.
* Adheres to and ensures the staff/facility are compliant with Federal, State, Local and Municipality and Industry standards or requirements.
Additional Expectations:
* Fosters and maintains a customer service approach that is cooperative, positive, and productive relationships with other staff members, citizens, boards, commissions, local government agencies, officials, and stakeholders of the Township. Vulgar or inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
* Maintains confidentiality with sensitive events, members, customers, visitors, employees, entity information, etc.
* Provides support for and participates in entity events including, but not limited to: Earth Day, Community Day, Holiday Dazzle, etc.
* Maintains regular communication with the Communications and/or Marketing team members of upcoming programs, announcement, advertisement, etc.
* Acts as a Brand Ambassador for The Township while ensuring brand consistency on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department with any and all active collateral (ie: web, social media outlets, billboard, parking lot message board, internal televisions, email blasts, print/paper).
* Ensures all program cycles are: prepared for and ready prior to event, the event begins on time with all products / equipment in place and organized, executed efficiently, end of event is as planned, deconstructed and cleaned up on time in accordance with programming and rental schedule.
* Communicates programming plans with Front Desk staff to provide excellent customer communication and service.
* Takes initiative to report employee or visitor related incidents.
* Arrives to scheduled shift and/or events in a prepared and ready-to-start momentum.
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule shift that includes variable weekends, evenings and holidays.
* Able to adapt to changing work situations or assignments.
* Ensures opening and closing procedures of the building are adhered to for the safety of internal and external customers.
* Adheres to safety and cleanliness standards.
* Participates in company training, committees and meetings.
* Able to drive and operate company vehicle(s) for Township business as assigned.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year university with course emphasis in Sports Management, Parks & Recreation Management, Public Administration, Education, Resort/Tourism Management, Business Administration with a recreational course minor or other related degree.
* Minimum 2 (two) years of related experience with an emphasis in community recreation setting.
* Satisfactory PA Child Abuse Clearances: FBI Fingerprint, State Police Check, PA Child Abuse, Mandated Reporter Certificate.
* Valid PA Driver's License; Consent for PA Driving Record Upon Hire & Annually.
* First Aid Certification (current or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).
* CPRP (Certified Park and Recreational Professional) or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
* Software Knowledge or Able To Learn: Microsoft Suite and Recreational Related Software's.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk; read and hear both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers, handle, feel, operate standard office equipment, and operate and drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, crouch, and lift 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and is exposed to all outdoor weather elements. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderately loud when visiting job sites.
Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; observe and interpret situations; read and interpret data, information, and documents; analyze and solve complex problems; use math and complete mathematical tasks; work with constant interruptions; and interact with Township officials, employees, and the public.
External Environmental Factors: Tasks may require exposure to such environmental conditions as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, sun, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, or traffic hazards.
