Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist all team members as required in the direct delivery of patient care. Undertake/assist in personal care duties for patients when required, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
2. Utilise appropriate moving and handling aids to reduce the risk of injury to the patient and themselves.
3. Have knowledge of clinical observations, glucose monitoring, and urinalysis, and understand the correct escalation process, making judgements on when to report patient conditions to a senior member of staff.
4. Assist in the induction of new staff within the department, demonstrating duties to new starters and leading by example to ensure safe and effective care.
5. Organise own daily workload, adjusting and prioritising appropriately as the department actively dictates.
6. Communicate factual information to patients regarding their condition within your clinical remit, delivering information with tact, empathy, and sensitivity, especially for patients with barriers to understanding, such as physical or mental disabilities, including dementia.
7. Demonstrate commitment to high standards of care.
8. Maintain accurate record keeping/IT skills.
9. Work effectively under pressure.
10. Prioritise/delegate tasks effectively at short notice.
11. Caring in a professional manner towards patients and their relatives.
12. Exhibit good time management skills.
13. Support junior members of staff to develop.
