CRH Group Technical Services (‘GTS’) provides technical services to CRH cement businesses around the world. The objectives of the services are to ensure operational excellence at all plants while meeting budgets and development targets.
The specific purpose of this role is to provide support services relating to civil engineering and structures in CRH cement facilities, including design, permitting, construction, repairs, condition monitoring, and demolition.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Structural / Civil Problems and Repairs
o Respond to calls for technical support.
o Review structural inspection reports and design documents. Be prepared to evaluate root cause and challenge recommendations and proposed solutions.
o Support CRH companies with developing, planning, and executing repair and retrofitting works.
o Research and present alternative solutions/methods to save cost/time where applicable.
o Liaise with CRH companies and various professionals including consultants and subcontractors.
o Carry out structural inspections in cement plants and other operational sites to identify any structural safety and/or business continuity risks.
o Research and understand best practices and best available technology in construction and repair techniques and share this knowledge.
2. Structural Integrity
o Promote, provide guidance, and advice on structural integrity/civil asset management.
o Assist CRH companies to develop and implement short and long-term plans for inspection & repair or replacement of structures and other civil assets.
o Develop guidance documents and systems relating to management of civil assets across CRH cement businesses.
o Manage the development, roll-out, and implementation of a digital asset management system in CRH cement plants globally.
3. Project Support
o Compile project scopes and support with tender preparation and review.
o Provide support for resolving/managing design and permitting issues.
o Provide project management support to CRH companies to ensure projects are completed within budget and on time with minimal risk to the company.
o Review and challenge Capital Expenditure Applications from CRH companies for Structural Repair and Construction Projects.

* Communicate well, both written and verbal, particularly considering stakeholders whose first language is not English. (A second/third language beyond English is advantageous).
* Deal with ambiguity.
* Civil/structural engineer.
* Min 5 years’ experience in the construction/engineering industry.
* Project Management Experience.
* Experienced report writer.
* Competent in a range of computer software Office, AutoCAD.
* Technically sound knowledge particularly relating to structures (r.c. and steel).
* Experienced in reinforced concrete and steel construction and repair techniques.
* Experienced in dealing with engineering consultants.
* Experienced in advising and working with clients.
