Senior Commercial Underwriter
As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in growing our client's Irish presence while contributing to the growth and development of the Commercial risk appetite.
Our client has ambitions to compete in the Irish market and grow their already significant portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
* Underwriting Excellence: Evaluate and underwrite complex commercial insurance risks following company underwriting guidelines and standards.
* Risk Assessment: Analyse and assess various factors, including valuation, occupancy, construction, and location, to determine appropriate coverage and pricing for commercial insurance policies.
* Portfolio Management: Manage and develop a commercial portfolio, ensuring profitability and growth targets are met while maintaining underwriting discipline.
* Market Growth: Proactively grow the product appetite by meeting with brokers and identifying new opportunities.
* Client Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional service and expertise on commercial insurance products and solutions.
* Market Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory developments affecting the commercial insurance sector, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
* Underwriting Guidelines: Contribute to developing and enhancing underwriting guidelines, policy wordings, and procedures to ensure alignment with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
* Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks and opportunities within the commercial portfolio and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls as necessary.
* Training and Development: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters, supporting their professional development and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
* CIP or ACII is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of commercial underwriting experience.
* Proven track record of successful underwriting performance, with a focus on developing broker relationships and offerings.
* Strong commercial insurance principles, coverages, and market dynamics knowledge.
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with brokers and clients.
* Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
* Commitment to upholding ethical standards and regulatory compliance.
