Job Title: Corporate Accountant
Location: Monksland, Athlone
Job Summary
The Corporate Accountant at Dunbar Pharma will play a critical role in the company’s financial management, reporting, and strategic planning. This role will support accounting, finance and administrative functions as the company embarks on its next growth phase. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, this role offers a unique opportunity to grow with a new and innovative biopharmaceutical company exporting to global markets. This position is ideal for a partially or fully Qualified Accountant looking to take the next steps in their career.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
1. Prepare internal financial reports for strategic analysis of business performance, growth and support of the management decision process.
2. Prepare external financial reports for stakeholders, providing a comprehensive overview of financial health.
3. Support the company’s annual external financial audit process.
Cost Accounting and Cash-Flow Management
1. Reporting and analysis of the company’s cost structure and products.
2. Implement cash-flow planning and monitoring systems to ensure operating budgets are established and met.
3. Management of cost for direct labour, subcontractors, materials and plant.
4. Forecast costs, measuring completed works costs and any deviations from estimates.
VAT and Tax Compliance
1. Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with Irish tax regulations.
2. Assist in maintaining adherence to other regulatory financial obligations.
Purchase Order Management
1. Oversee the end-to-end process of purchase order creation, approvals, and tracking.
2. Monitor supplier payments and address discrepancies.
Business Development and Strategy Support
1. Assist in business development work, including liaising with international offices and other relevant stakeholders.
2. Contribute to financial analysis and planning to support strategic business decisions and global expansion initiatives.
3. Assist in preparing grant funding applications.
Internal Controls and Compliance
1. Maintain and enforce robust internal controls to ensure the integrity of finance functions and data.
2. Ensure operational compliance, effectiveness and efficiency with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Process Improvement and Collaboration
1. Collaborate with the team to streamline financial systems and processes for operational efficiency.
2. Work closely with cross-departmental teams to ensure alignment on financial objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience
1. Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a finance or accounting role, preferably in public practice or within a regulated industry.
2. Technical Expertise: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage, Xero, Caseware, etc.).
3. Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse financial data and deliver actionable insights.
4. Organisational Skills: Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
5. Communication: Professional and precise communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external collaboration.
6. Problem-Solving: Initiative and a proactive approach to resolving issues and driving process improvements.
