ATG are seeking a qualified Ecologist to join a growing team in Galway. The successful candidate will support a wide range of projects, including habitat and species surveys, ecological impact assessments (EIAs), Appropriate Assessments (AAs), and biodiversity action plans.

Key Responsibilities
* Conduct ecological surveys for habitats, flora, and fauna, including protected species assessments.
* Assist in the preparation of Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs) and Appropriate Assessment (AA) reports under the Habitats Directive.
* Provide expert input into biodiversity strategies, conservation management plans, and habitat restoration projects.
* Analyse survey data and produce technical reports with recommendations for mitigation and enhancement.
* Support planning applications and environmental assessments for a range of projects, including renewable energy, infrastructure, and commercial developments.
* Work with GIS mapping tools to analyze and present ecological data.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, engineers, and environmental consultants.
* Ensure compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation, including the Wildlife Acts and Birds & Habitats Directives.
* Engage with stakeholders, including clients, regulators, NGOs, and local authorities.
Key Requirements
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in ecological consultancy or conservation.
* Strong knowledge of Irish and EU biodiversity legislation and policy.
* Experience conducting protected species surveys (e.g., bats, birds, amphibians, mammals) and habitat assessments.
* Proficiency in GIS mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS) is desirable.
* Membership or working towards CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management) is an advantage.
* Strong fieldwork skills and ability to work in remote outdoor environments.
* Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
* Full, clean driving license (fieldwork and site visits required).
