Our Multi-task Assistants play a vital role as members of our care team at Ferbane Care Centre, delivering exceptional care to our residents.
This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing and involves a range of responsibilities including housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen assistance.
Duties & Responsibilities
**Housekeeping Assistant:**
Maintain all areas in the care centre to a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness, and hygiene.
Clean and disinfect equipment, furnishings, crockery, cutlery, kitchen appliances, toilets, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, windows, and refuse disposal areas.
Dispose of domestic and hazardous waste properly, ensuring bins are collected, cleaned, and kept hygienic at all times.
Respond promptly to spills and utilize safety signs as needed.
Adhere to infection control policies and stay up-to-date on best practices.
Report and document any observed defects or issues affecting service standards.
**Laundry Assistant:**
Sort resident's laundry into relevant groups, preparing soiled clothing and linen for processing through washers, dryers, and ironing.
Liaise with external laundry personnel if necessary.
Fold and store clothing and linen to maintain high quality standards.
E nsure stain removal, cleanliness, and dryness meet expectations.
Maintain statutory Health, Safety & Fire, and Infection Control standards in the laundry area.
**Kitchen Assistant:**
Maintain highest standards of Health, Safety, Fire, Food Handling, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (H.A.C.C.P), and Infection Control in the catering area.
Assist Catering Supervisor/Chef with documentation of food ordering, receiving, and storage according to safe practices and legislation.
Support Catering Supervisor/Chef in meal preparation and cooking to ensure excellent quality and wholesome meals.
Aid Catering Supervisor/Chef in creating balanced daily menus meeting residents' individual requirements.
Gain knowledge of food nutrition and diet standards suitable for older people and Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) guidelines.
Store food safely according to legislative standards.
**Healthcare Assistant:
Support nursing staff in delivering quality person-centered care to meet residents' needs.
Build relationships with residents, understanding their interests and needs, providing attention, support, and companionship.
Promote residents' mobility, supervising and assisting as necessary to maintain optimum mobility.
Enable and assist residents with personal appearance and hygiene needs while maintaining dignity.
Facilitate residents' eating, drinking, and physical comfort.
Participate in organizing social activities.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home.
Education & Qualifications
* Current and valid Infection Control, Manual Handling, Resident Moving & Handling, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Certificates (training can be provided if required).
