Job Description
We are seeking an Application Support Specialist for a dynamic international banking firm based in Dublin city centre. This onsite role will have you working as part of an expanding team.
Purpose of the Role
The ideal candidate will contribute to the overall success of the IT department by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
Responsibilities:
* You will be a key member of a strong front office Application Support team tasked with supporting, managing, and maintaining the capital markets electronic trading platform for global sales and trading desks. The role will directly interact with fixed income and equities business users.
* Primary responsibilities will involve supporting business units in the Dublin market, as well as providing application support to the European trading desk based in other global locations.
* You will be responsible for monitoring and proactive maintenance of the electronic trading platforms.
* Troubleshooting problems with day-to-day technical operations raised by the trading desks will also be a key aspect of the role.
* Incident management and communication of the status of all incidents to both business and technology management will be essential.
* You will need to understand how the bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
* A key responsibility will be actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
* Occasionally working outside standard hours might be required to make specific changes or perform maintenance that is often not able to be completed during normal business hours.

* Resolution of user issues in a prompt manner, escalation to senior IT management as appropriate, is essential.
* You will communicate with 3rd-party vendors such as trading exchanges, software suppliers (e.g., ION Trading, Bloomberg, MTS, EUREX, ICE, BGC, TpICAP, CME).
Required Experiences:
* You must hold a computer science degree or similar.
* Experience with the Linux operating system and basic scripting and SQL knowledge is essential.
* Experience working with trading desks is also required.
* You must have knowledge of networking technologies, common operating systems, hardware, and protocols.
* Basic knowledge of ION Trading's MMI & Anvil components is necessary.
* Experience dealing with market exchanges and electronic brokerage platforms (e.g., MTS, Eurex, and Bloomberg) is required.
Desirable Experiences:
* A passion for IT and technology to develop a career in capital markets IT is highly desirable.
* Proactive problem-solving skills are essential.
* You must be a people-oriented individual with a team focus.
* Experience writing technical guides and documentation is also desirable.
* Awareness of ITIL and IT service management principles is beneficial.
