Job Title: Process Safety Specialist
Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for chairing and documenting process and equipment HAZOP and HAZID assessments on site.
They will conduct process safety-related risk assessments, including Process Hazard Assessments and Machinery Risk Assessments, to ensure the effective management of processes.
The ideal candidate will oversee the introduction of new products to the site from a process safety perspective and manage process safety elements associated with running product campaigns on plant.
Key responsibilities include proposing, developing, and implementing improvements and modifications from a process safety perspective to process areas and equipment to enhance operations.
The Process Safety Specialist will ensure compliance with relevant site, corporate, and industrial standards, interact with the change control system, and approve changes from an EHS perspective.
They will also troubleshoot process safety-related issues, review and approve process safety-related documentation, provide relevant training to colleagues as required, and support safety investigations throughout the site.
A key aspect of the role is conducting safety audits and continuously improving the Site safety management systems.
Requirements:
An honours degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other related discipline is essential, along with 3-4 years of relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in process safety subject matters such as ATEX, COMAH, and reaction chemistry hazards is beneficial.
Skills:
A strong safety mindset and knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry are critical for success in this role.
