Job Overview
The purpose of the position of Health & Safety Advisor is to perform, under the direction of the Corporate Health and Safety Officer, the services to provide governance, guidance and support in the establishment and development of a robust Safety Management System in accordance with legal and other requirements.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in the coordination, development, implementation, monitoring review and update of safety management system within Kildare County Council.
2. Facilitate the development, communication and implementation of Health and Safety Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with national, international and legal requirements.
3. Assist in the preparation, review and communication of the Safety Statement and Safety Management System and associated documents.
4. Prepare, review and communicate risk assessments in conjunction with line managers and support line managers in identifying control measures.
5. Actively promote a safety awareness culture throughout Kildare County Council.
6. Producing the required information for monthly and annual safety reports.
7. Assist Directorates and others to communicate to staff on safety, health and welfare through the safety management system consultation process.
The Ideal Candidate
It is desirable that candidates demonstrate through their application form and at the interview that he/she;
1. An ability to achieve targets as an individual and as part of a team.
2. An ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Strong organisational, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
5. A good understanding and working knowledge of ISO 45001:2018.
6. Knowledge of Construction Management and Traffic Management would be an advantage.
Driving Licence
Applicants should at the date of applying hold a full valid Irish /EU licence, for Class B vehicles.
