EOS IT Solutions is a leading logistics, Network and Collaboration company. We support a large number of tech companies providing innovative solutions – globally. We have an immediate opening for a highly motivated, collaborative and committed individual to fill our Network Automation Engineer position within our Global Network team.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optical Network Fiber Engineer with a strong passion for fiber optics, data center networking, and automation. As part of a growing infrastructure engineering team, this individual will play a key role in planning, executing, and optimizing complex fiber migration procedures across large-scale enterprise environments.
This position involves close collaboration with network operations, optical design, and field deployment teams to ensure seamless migration of optical spans with minimal network impact. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber infrastructure, a solid understanding of DWDM systems, and an interest in workflow automation.
While the standard hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, some work will be required during scheduled maintenance windows (typically evenings or weekends).
The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of fiber migration processes, help streamline operational workflows, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to field teams. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for high-quality execution are essential. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong professional looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
Candidates will be expected to travel 25% of the time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
* Support and execute high-impact fiber migration projects across data center environments.
* Assist in the execution and optimization of automated workflows for fiber cutovers using existing tools.
* Design and document detailed procedures for end-to-end fiber migration (X and Y paths) with rollback and failure handling.
* Troubleshoot and resolve fiber-level and DWDM performance issues including Loss, OSC, and optical channel metrics.
* Contribute to improving the efficiency of maintenance windows by minimizing manual steps and pre-positioning tasks before execution.
* Collaborate with multiple teams for coordination, validation, and approvals.
* Support onboarding of new optical spans by validating fiber continuity, pad loss, and CKDB entries.
* Update, validate, and deprecate records in internal databases following migration.
* Assist in post-migration analysis and iterative optimization of procedures based on field data and technician feedback.
* Document lessons learned and help improve workflow logic and tooling used for migrations.
* Mentor field technicians and junior engineers on process, tools, and best practices.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot under SLA-driven pressure.
* Working knowledge of optical networking tools (e.g., OTDRs, DWDM systems) and fiber characterization.
* Familiarity with Python and automation workflow logic (especially within structured automation tools).
* Understanding of workflow data validation and integration between network inventory systems.
* Ability to identify workflow gaps and collaborate with automation teams to improve reliability and logic handling.
* Strong documentation and planning skills, especially in defining pre-checks, migration, rollback, and post-check processes.
* Solid understanding of network infrastructure and physical connectivity between data center sites.
* Hands-on experience with multiple optical vendors, including Ciena, Infinera, and Cisco optical/DWDM platforms.
* Experience interpreting optical metrics (ORL, Rx power, BER, OSC) and resolving physical-layer issues.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
* 4+ years working in an Optical Networking or Data Center Infrastructure Engineering role.
* Experience with DWDM systems, fiber span validation, and field troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with CLI and management tools for Ciena, Infinera, and Cisco optical platforms.
* Ability to configure and interpret test results from OTDRs, modems, and amplifiers.
* Experience with large-scale fiber migrations in high-availability environments.
* Exposure to automated tooling and workflow orchestration.
* Networking certifications such as CCNA preferred.
* Strong attention to detail and operational rigor in executing live maintenance tasks.
* Willingness to work during scheduled maintenance windows (typically evenings or weekends).
* Excellent communication and coordination skills with cross-functional technical teams.
* Fluent in spoken & written English preferred.
