As a Lead member of the Design Department, your primary purpose will be to lead the Architectural Team, balancing the effective use of resources with required services in such a manner that professional standards are not compromised. You will be responsible for maintaining and initiating architectural services to fully support the objectives and future development of the Company, ensuring that standards are appropriately applied for maximum commercial and technical effectiveness.
Your key responsibilities will be:
1. Implementing the development of architectural standards and solutions that manage risk and support the specialist areas of the Company’s business.
2. Providing design fee and staff resource proposals for project services.
3. Agreeing on the terms of appointment and services for external architectural practices, consultants, and technical support services.
4. Working closely with the business development and sales teams to develop potential business opportunities.
5. Encouraging inter-disciplinary working across teams and contributing to specific project teams, leading them when required.
6. Ensuring that all team members comply with respect to matters of health, safety, and environmental protection.
7. Contributing to the development of effective working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal colleagues, ensuring confidentiality is observed when dealing with private correspondence, reports, statements, records, and other documents.
8. Complying with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assisting in the review of standards and procedures to promote a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients.
9. Providing a professional and high-quality service in accordance with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assisting in the review of standards and procedures to ensure a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
1. Registered with the Architects Registration Board in accordance with the Architects Act 1997 and Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
2. At least 10 years demonstrable professional experience in complex projects including 5 years’ experience in a senior management role.
3. Strong knowledge with broad experience in design and construction of buildings; must have working knowledge of current legislation and practices.
4. Self-motivated rational thinker with good motivational skills able to communicate with all disciplines at all levels.
5. Well-organized and capable of organizing others with the ability to manage people, processes, and time.
