In Ireland, Abbott currently employs about 6,000 people across ten sites located in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo.We currently have a vacancy for a Supply Chain Manager and this position will involve the following:Primary FunctionAs a member of the site senior management team, reporting to the Site Director, the Supply Chain Manager has overall responsibility and control of the plant supply chain function.
The Supply Chain Manager has primary responsibility for all planning, purchasing and warehousing activities required to support the forecasted production plans along with all elements of any plant and network strategies.
He/She must:Provide overall leadership, direction and management for the Materials function in order to meet overall plant deliverables, along with developing the people, competencies and systems required to support plant strategies and drive efficiencies.Lead the logistics and supply chain team members toward meeting all performance targets, KPIs and inventory targets.Pro-actively manage and develop talent within the team with a view to both facilitating career paths for the team members, and ensuring that all succession needs are perpetually covered.Nurture positive engagement levels within the Materials and broader site teams.Work collaboratively and collectively with all site Leadership Team colleagues to guarantee that all Senior Stakeholder expectations of the Cootehill site are consistently delivered upon.Manage the supplier base, and co-ordinate procurement of all purchased materials to support production and minimize product cost, within the framework of the Abbott Code of Conduct and all applicable laws.Develop and grow relationships with other manufacturing sites, Corporate functions and ANSC Materials groups as necessary and relevant to all purchasing and supply chain activities.
Maintain relationships cross-divisionally within Abbott to ensure knowledge of key purchasing and supply areas is fully up to date.Maintain key tracking and trending data in respect of sourcing for the site, and liaise with all associated relevant external bodies and suppliers.Ensure compliance with local (including ISO) and Abbott rules, policies and regulations relating to warehouse, shipping and purchasing.
In addition, ensure that we meet all regulatory requirements of the business (local and consumer markets).Maintain an active role in the development of our purchasing strategy within the ANSC group, and promote this approach through constant communication with all affected Cootehill personnel.Develop agreed approaches to implementing plant scheduling utilising the Nutrition S&OP process, and promote close links between the plant and all relevant remote personnel in the supply chain function.Develop plant schedules in line with market requirements, utilizing all planning systems.Plan and control all warehouse practices including goods-receipt, storage, movements, shipping and distribution.
Utilise communication, training and personnel development to ensure proper performance of duties in compliance with cGMP, Company safety standards, and Q.A.
policies and procedures.Monitor and control all plant purchasing activities to ensure compliance with company policies and practices, within budgetary limits.
Develop Plans of Purchase outlining strategies for material purchase and new vendor development.Education RequiredBachelors DegreeIn addition to a Bachelors Degree, completion of a suitable course covering Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Negotiating skills, Planning, Warehousing and Shipping is required and/or 5 years' experience in Supply chain/Materials.People Management training and experience is a prerequisite.Knowledge5 to 6 years experience in a Manufacturing Industry, in a production, purchasing or production planning function.
Experience of a made to order operation is desirable.Knowledge of legal/procedural duties relating to importation/exportation.5 years experience in a management position.Ability to communicate clearly.Accountability / ScopeThis position is responsible for the purchasing of all materials necessary for the Cootehill plant operation.
The purchasing of materials at or better than Annual Operating Plan standard price has an impact on the overall product cost, and therefore very significant impact on the plant performance.
The optimum scheduling of the plant has significant implications for plant efficiency, and for customer service, and is reflected in numerous significant KPIs.
Warehousing and Shipping are complex regulated areas that have a direct impact on customer service, and have high potential for costly error.Deviation from specification, or failure to take corrective action or follow procedures for any period of time, could have serious financial and quality consequences.
