About the client The client is a statutory non-commercial State body, which operates under the aegis of the Department of Transport.
Their remit is primarily concerned with the planning, development, and funding of sustainable transport modes, that is public transport, cycling, and walking, on a national basis.
Hybrid working arrangements in place.
A minimum of two in-office days per week.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end administration and processing of designated grants areas, involving relationship management and supporting multiple colleagues and stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure compliance with grant draw-down and operator payment schedules.Serve as the key point of contact for the Department of Transport, C&AG, and internal and external stakeholders.Lead and support the month-end grants process.Contribute to a strong compliance culture by ensuring robust internal controls and audit standards are achieved and maintained.Support Grant and External audits as required and provide support for the preparation of annual Financial Statements and the annual budget process.Collaborate on projects as part of a continuous improvement program, including the utilisation of technology and financial systems to streamline business processes.
Coordinate and assist in the development of Finance Systems upgrades, enhancements, and process developments.Mentor and manage staff where required.Perform any other duties that may be assigned to the role.Minimum Requirements: Strong organisational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships.Must have a strong understanding of financial management and auditing project processes.A 'can-do' and flexible approach with the ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.Strong MS Office and MS Excel skills.Proven ability to present and direct in a clear and concise manner.At least 5 years of recent, relevant experience.
