Home Instead cork south office is looking for Support Workers (Social care) with an interest in supporting an autistic teenager, with responsive behaviours. The assignment is based in East Cork.
Who we’re looking for
As a Support Worker (Social care), you should have the following skills and requirements:
* NQF Level 6 or higher in Social Care or Psychology related qualification.
* Additional training can be completed on hire.
* Use of your own smartphone to check in and out of your home visits.
* Full Driving License and Own Transport preferable.
* Experience recognising and responding to responsive behaviours, using a positive behaviour support plan, preventative/de-escalation and disengagement strategies is an advantage.
* Ability to work on your own initiative, think on your feet, work as part of a team and lead/support HCA on duty.
* Ability and interest to develop community networks and encourage natural circles of support.
* Comfortable working with risk assessments, daily reporting and essential information technology such as phone apps/portals and email.
What you’ll do
* Recognise and respond appropriately to responsive behaviours in line with the client’s positive behaviour support plan.
* Assist with daily living activities with the HCA on duty.
* Actively promote the participation of clients and/or their families in the formulation and execution of the safety, care, behaviour and activity plans.
* Make significant efforts to understand the client’s life story, to gain a sense of the way the person experiences difficult times, and to discover hopeful possibilities for developing the client’s gifts and capacities.
* Accompany the client to appointments, school and other events as required.
* Undertake duties as may be assigned by your direct manager/supervisor to support the care of service users.
* Facilitate everyone supported by the services to actively participate and integrate into the community.
* Provide reports on client safety, care, behaviour and activity plans to management/supervisor. Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the ongoing progression/implementation of the care plan and document daily as required.
