The Interventionist will work extensively with students to help them improve specific reading and math skills. They are responsible for assessing the nature of student needs and providing resources and support systems for all students referred for services.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and act as a consultant to assigned school personnel in developing and maintaining a student assistance program.
2. Maintain monthly documentation on each student and provide notes on supports provided.
3. Gather, organize, and interpret assessment data.
4. Utilize best practice instructional strategies and research-based intervention curriculum materials to meet the learning needs of students.
5. Model the use of intervention strategies, through their use in the classroom, to general and special education teachers.
6. Analyze existing student achievement data and administer student assessment and progress monitoring instruments as needed to aid in progress monitoring of students.
7. Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and administration.
8. Assist with in-service training for school staff and parents.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. A valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary Education, Reading, Literacy, Math, or a related area.
2. A minimum of three years elementary teaching experience.
3. Master's degree preferred.
4. Leadership experience (e.g., conducting workshops, presenting to large/small groups, participating in special projects, and developing new materials).
5. Excellent writing and public speaking skills, outstanding organizational and planning abilities, strong ability to work effectively with individuals and groups, knowledgeable in the area of best/evidence-based instructional methods and strategies.
6. SUCH ALTERNATIVES TO THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS AS THE BOARD MAY REQUIRE.
