Senior Psychologist Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Psychologist to join our team at the Irish Prison Service in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
About the Role
This is a locum position that requires a Senior Psychologist to work with adult males in a closed high security prison setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive assessments and developing behaviour monitoring procedures for each individual.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments and formulate individuals referred to the psychology service
* Develop behaviour monitoring procedures for each individual
* Provide specialist contribution to multi-disciplinary Care and Management Planning for each person
* Engage in and supervise evidence-based psychological interventions as recommended in the Care and Management Plan
About the Team
The IPS Psychology Service works with individuals who have been referred for various reasons including mental health difficulties, offence-specific needs, and developmental disorders. The team provides a range of evidence-based group and 1:1 interventions, and has regular contact with community agencies involved in support and resettlement.
Requirements
* Eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS)
* Postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI or Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI
* Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience as a Psychologist
Desirable Requirements
* Experience addressing emotional, mental health and offence-related difficulties with a forensic population
* Experience providing consultation, education, guidance and support to multidisciplinary colleagues
* Further therapeutic or research qualifications
