Job Description
An exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst or supervisor to take the next step in their career and lead a laboratory in a respected FMCG company, utilizing their skills in resource management, coaching, and succession planning to develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead Lab team, including resource allocation, training, and development to ensure a culture of excellence and audit readiness.
* Manage site chemistry laboratory, encompassing equipment maintenance, consumable inventory, and laboratory calibrations.
* Drive a continuous improvement agenda to guarantee right-first-time results and compliance with relevant standards such as BRC.
* Oversee shelf life, retained samples, and end-of-life testing programs, ensuring seamless execution and effective decision-making.
* Collaborate with customers to understand specifications and communicate site-impact requirements clearly to the team.
* Manage stock-on-hold inventory and make informed decisions on suitability for customers or downgrade stream as necessary.
* Responsibility for managing laboratory test methods, procedures, and records, as well as training the Quality team on these aspects.
* Foster strong relationships with external laboratories, driving continuous improvement and collaboration.
Requirements:
* Food Science Qualification.
* 3/4 years of experience in a Food Manufacturing/Laboratory environment within the dairy/food industry.
* Proven track record of operating within a Food Safety and Quality Management System in a production or lab facility.
* Leadership experience, with a focus on coaching and developing teams, is highly desirable.
* Able to sensory evaluate dairy products and possess strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
* Committed attitude with the ability to display initiative and make informed decisions.
* Flexible to provide cover within the team as required.
