Job Title: Fire Prevention Officer
Job Summary:
The State Organisation is seeking a highly skilled Fire Prevention Officer to provide expert advice on risk management and fire safety in medical facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legal and statutory obligations related to fire health and safety prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
* Advise on the suitability of equipment to reduce risks within the organisation, standardising products where possible.
* Report to managers and committees on areas of fire and infrastructural risk requiring action.
* Investigate accidents and provide reports as necessary.
* Participate in the Integrated Quality and Risk committee and other groups as required.
* Monitor and report on the health and safety performance of external contractors.
* Assist in setting up and amending Emergency Plans.
* Provide input into planning expenditure on Fire Safety, highlighting essential works required.
* Conduct regular inspections of buildings, means of escape, and fire-fighting equipment.
* Review and draw up fire orders, including evacuation schemes for various types of building.
* Regularly inspect places, premises, and equipment presenting a special risk of fire.
* Instruct staff on avoidance of fire hazards and operation of fire equipment.
* Arrange regular fire drills and ensure they are properly carried out.
* Monitor water supply and pressure for firefighting purposes.
* Ensure all hydrants are clearly identified.
* Advise on interpretation of Fire Protection Standards and Building Regulations.
* Monitor means of escape to ensure they are safe and adequate.
* Keep proper records of inspections, fires, and other matters relating to the office of Fire Prevention Officer.
Requirements:
* HETAC level 7 qualification in engineering, fire engineering, architecture, Health and Safety, or Building Services/Building Surveying.
* At least two years' experience in a comparable Fire and Safety role.
* Pro-active commitment to communications with internal and external stakeholders.

* Salary: €52,000 - €58,000 with annual increments thereafter.
